“If your why is strong enough, you will figure out the how.” - Bill Walsh, retired head coach of the San Francisco 49ers

The video above is a summary of a live coaching session I conducted at the Christian Business Leaders Group in Cedar Park, TX. 6 Questions Away From Your Best Year Ever.

Grant Cardone in his book, The 10X Rule, describes the 10X rule as that level of MASSIVE ACTION a person must take in order to achieve their goals and dreams.

I believe in the nobility of business. I believe that being a salesperson, a solopreneur, or a small business owner is a worthy goal. I believe that being a Christian in business is even better and opens the door to making a difference in the lives of others.  As a Christian, you have an advantage that others do not have.  Namely, God is on your side. God’s 10X Rule is Ephesians 3:20-21.

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. New King James Version (NKJV).

Let’s think about how to have your best business year ever.

1. Begin by making a list of every single accomplishment for this year. It doesn’t matter how big or how small. This may not even be specifically related to your business. Maybe you lost weight.  Maybe you healed a relationship. Maybe you finally bought that vehicle you wanted.

The point is, you HAVE accomplished things this year. So often we only look at what’s not working. But, there are some things that did work for you this year.

Two things to remember: (1) Everything is possible if you want it bad enough. (2) If someone else can do something so can you.

Now is the time…

Eccl 3:1-8: There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

Now is the time to gear up for 2018. Would you like to 10X your business in 2018?

Here’s some questions to ask yourself…

1. What worked for me or what’s working for me in 2017?

a. Why is it working?

b. How could I make it work better?

2. What didn’t work for me or what’s not working for me?

a. Why isn’t it working?

b. Do I need to fix it or let it go?

3. What could I have done better in 2017?  Peter followed those who arrested Jesus and took him to the High Priest’s house. There he denied knowing Jesus three times. “And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, ‘Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.’ And he went out and wept bitterly.” Luke 22:61 Peter no doubt wished he had done better.

a. Where is resistance showing up?

b. What is that resistance costing me?

c. What would it mean to me if I could overcome that resistance?

4.What is my commitment level? Matt 16:24 ““If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Following Jesus takes commitment. So does building a business.

a. There is a difference between interest and commitment. “When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.” – Ken Blanchard, Author of self-leadership and the one minute manager

b. Do I need to adjust my goal down or raise my commitment level?

5. Is your WHY strong enough? “People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe”  ― Simon Sinek, Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action

a. If you want something bad enough you will find a way

“If your why is strong enough, you will figure out the how.” – Bill Walsh, retired head coach of the San Francisco 49ers

6. If I could go back to the beginning of this year and start to do just one thing daily that would have the biggest impact on my business what would it be?

Philippians 3:13-14 “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But this one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

“In the number one Wall Street Journal bestseller, The ONE Thing, Gary Keller has identified that behind every successful person is their ONE Thing. No matter how success is measured, personal or professional, only the ability to dismiss distractions and concentrate on your ONE Thing stands between you and your goals. The ONE Thing is about getting extraordinary results in every situation.”
