Two days ago I listed a beautiful home in Cedar Park, TX where I live and work. This was a prospective client that I came across over one year ago. I’ve spent countless days following up and keep them informed about the market.
Last week they called and said they were ready to list. I spent two hours with them this past weekend, counseling them about the current real estate market and how to position the home to get top dollar.

Then yesterday the husband found out that his job was sending him out of the country. He contacted me wanting to terminate the listing agreement.
Now, a listing agreement is a legally binding contract. Some agents will keep you locked into that contract for a lengthy period of time that in some cases could cost you thousands of dollars.
My response was, “Sure, no problem. I’ll agree to terminate the agreement.” I did ask for one thing, “Please don’t keep me a secret. I’m here to help and serve. When you come across someone who needs the services of a great REALTOR®, please introduce me to them.”

My aim is to help and serve people. I honest believe that I am the best solution for my clients. That’s why I also allow clients to fire me at any time. Of course, they don’t. I make sure that my level of service far exceeds their expectations.
Why would an agent try to force a client to stay with them if the client was unhappy? That makes no sense to me, but it happens every day.
