Once again here in Austin, Texas we have seen homes sales and prices break new records. It seems like this market is never going to slow down.

By the way, I’ve been doing this long enough to know that’s a false sense of optimism. I’m very optimistic about our market for 2018, but be certain…. The real estate market, like every market moves in cycles.

We have been in a strong Seller’s market for years.  What follows that?

There are signs that our market is “normalizing.” What does that mean?  Well, for sellers it means it will take longer for your home to sell.  It will also mean that home price appreciation will slow.

For Buyers it will mean more inventory from which to choose. It will also most likely mean that mortgage rates will increase.

It pays to work with a local Realtor with a depth of knowledge about the real estate market.  The benefit to you is maximizing your selling price if you are selling, and finding the best priced home is you are buying.
