Did you see the latest about the Austin housing market from the Real Estate web site Trulia?
According to Trulia the Austin metro area ranks No 5 of the top 10 housing markets poised for growth in 2019. Other cities cited include:
- Colorado Springs, CO
- Grand Rapids, MI
- Bakersfield, CA
- Jacksonville, FL
- Austin, TX
- Fresno, CA
- Phoenix, AR
- Columbia, SC
- El Paso, TX
- Oklahoma City, OK
Austin ranked number 1 in recent years but we’ve slipped a bit. However, still coming in a number 5 the Austin housing market is robust.
The Trulia research looks for several traits to put a market on its top 10 list. Austin scored high with low vacancy rates, high job growth, and a large population below the age of 35. But, the Austin housing market ranked poorly on starter home affordability coming in at number 79.
It’s not easy to be in the starter home market in Austin. It’s difficult to find a nice home under $200,000 which is often the price range for first time home buyers.
What is it the people love about Austin? We have a great economy with very low unemployment. We have a great climate. Sure, it gets hot in the summer but it quickly passes. We actually have some beautiful seasons. The Hill Country of Central Texas is beautiful. And, we have a great vibe. After all, Austin is the Music Capital of the world.
Don’t forget that Willie Nelson lives here. If you love Willie you’re gonna love Austin.
Look, I’ve created a lot of videos recently about how our housing market is shifting. It is. But all in all we have a robust real estate market. It’s still a seller’s market and prices are still rising. Not as fast, but they are rising.
So, If you’re thinking about buying, I suggest you do it sooner rather than later. The same holds true if you are thinking about selling.
