Choosing to work with a discount broker could cost you thousands. Here's why...


Working with a discount broker could be the worst possible mistake when selling your home.

There are times when a prospective seller will ask me about discount brokers. They also want to know if I’ll discount my fee for service.

Those are great questions and what I think someone is really saying is that they want to put the most money in their pocket at closing, right?

Selling home incurs certain expenses. And, if you’re not really familiar with all the value provided by a great agent, you might balk at the fee.

I believe that working a discount broker is a big mistake. I am confident that the value I bring to my client’s means a quicker sale and ultimately more money in their pocket.

Think about it this way. Let’s say, for example, that you are an attorney. I would ask you, “Would you agree that there are 3 types of attorneys: bad attorneys, mediocre attorneys, and the best attorneys?

“Tell me, which one are you?

“And, as one of the best, do you typically find yourself bringing more value or less value to your clients than a bad attorney? More value, right?

“Well, you see, in my industry we’ve got three types of agents. We’ve got the BEST agents, the MEDIOCRE agents, and the BAD agents.

“Out of curiosity, which of these 3 kinds of agents do you think will most likely work for the cheapest rate available? The BEST, the MEDIOCRE, or the BAD?

“The answer is the bad agent or perhaps the mediocre agent. Why? Because they are desperate, or they lack skills, or they are floundering in the business, etc.”

“You do want to work with the BEST, right?”

Look, discount brokers have been around for decades and they only represent a small fraction of the market. There’s a reason why that is true. It’s all about value.

Are you the kind of person that focuses on cost or do you focus on value?  To a discount broker you may only be a transaction. To me, you are a relationship and my goal is bring you great value today, tomorrow, and forever.
