One of my Youtube subscribers asked a question this week: Is this a good time to buy a house in Austin, TX?
I hear that question a lot. So, I was inspired to create this short video answer.
The answer is, YES. This is a good time to buy in Austin.
In the video I reference an article just published by Business Insider that listed the top 7 cities in the U.S. in which to buy a home. Austin, Texas was ranked number one.
Among the factors cited in the article was Austin’s projected population growth of 20% over the next 10 years, as well a Austin’s projected income growth of 20% over the next 5 years.
These are the kind of numbers that excite investors as well as owner occupied homeowners.
The top 7 cities listed in the article are:
- Austin, TX
- Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX
- Houston, TX
- Jacksonville, FL
- Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, FL
- Orlando, FL
- Tampa-St. Pete, FL
Note that the top 3 cities are in Texas followed by the other cities in Florida. These two states have a lot in common.
- They have a temperate climate
- They have strong economies
- They have strong wage growth
- They have low unemployment
- They have no state income tax
- They have Republican Governors
- They are business friendly
