Okay, so what’s happening here in January 2018 in the Austin real estate market?
This morning I received by email the latest market report by Austin Title Company. They send
me a weekly market update and I want to zoom in here for you to see this chart.
I want you to see what’s going on. This chart shows the the home sale activity here in Austin by
month and by year. So going back to 2013 across to 2017, the red line is 2017, and you’ll see that last year was a record breaking year and the year before that was 2016. We had a big uptick of sales
at the end of the year. And that continued into the new year.
But we are, right now, as we begin January of 2018 almost where we were in March of
last year. As a matter of fact, sales in December were stronger than 2016 sales which was stronger than 2015 sales which were just about as strong as 2014.
What does that mean for you? It means that if you are thinking about selling your
home in 2018 I encourage you enter the market now! Don’t wait until later when
you have a lot more competition. Sales are strong now. Buyer demand is strong
now. Pending sales are up 12% here at the beginning of January.
