When you are buying or selling real estate, don’t let your emotions get in the way. Emotions can just kill a real estate deal. Emotions can get in the way of you selling your home. Emotions can get in the way of you buying a home.
I mean, I see it all the time. For example, when I’m speaking with someone and we’re talking about selling their home well, you know, they have made improvements to the home they have created… backyard landscaping, that is just a gardener’s delight. They they put extra extra money into some of the upgrades in their home. And when they get ready to sell their home, they’re so emotionally attached to their home that it gets in the way of pricing the home right.
And I have to tell you, here in the Austin real estate market, we’re still in a strong seller’s market. I spoke this morning to an expired listing prospect whose home has been on the market 378 days. When I ask him what he thought about price he said, “I think my price is right.” Well, the average listing in our MLS sells in 66 days. I know the properties I list sell in less than 30 days. So if you’ve been on the market for 378 days, I have to say, Honestly, there’s something wrong with your price and it’s probably because you’re letting your emotions get in the way of reality.
