Is your agent a “Ghost Agent”? There was big news coming out of last week’s Inman Connect Conference in New York City.
Inman Connect is a week-long event bringing together more than 4,000 top-producing agents and brokers, CEOs of leading real estate franchises, MLS and association leaders, tech entrepreneurs and marketing executives, to network, make deals and explore the newest technology.
The news about “Ghost Agents” was blogged about this way by Inman: “Much like the fears of voter fraud (and dead voters appearing on the rolls), the idea of “ghost agents” seemed almost too conspiratorial to be true at first. Yet Keller Williams confirmed to us that this is a serious issue, and up to 15,000 agents in its current estimates will be cleaved away from the company’s industry-leading total of over 190,000 associates globally.”
Wow!
Keller Williams likes to tout itself as the largest real estate company in the world (by agent count). Now, it appears that many of those agents produce nothing and some are even dead. So, they will be trimming their roster almost 10%.
This comes from their recently fired Ex-CE) John Davis. Seems like there are some skeletons in the closet.
There’s a lot of rivalry between KW and RE/MAX because RE/MAX has long claimed that “Nobody in the world sells more real estate than RE/MAX”. KW went on a recruiting spree until it could claim to be the largest real estate company (by agent count.)
Well, those chickens, or should I say, Ghost Agents, are coming home to roost.
That may not be the best metaphor, but you can see what I mean.
My question for you is this, Is your agent a “ghost agent”. Did he or she show up to list your house for sale and then disappear. You never hear from them. They never show your home. They are like a ghost.
Don’t let that happen. Give me a call. I’m not a ghost. I’m real!
